Is your business findable?
It’s been amazing how the interlinked web networks and social platforms are evolving in the past few months. The shift of Power from organizations to consumer has changed many of principles of publishing in the Internet. For blogs, online news journals, social media networks and content marketing strategies are all affected. Now time for proactive marketers to adapt to this change as the impact is massive. What impact I am highlighting here?
Why are you hiding the Gold?
The seeking for reach, findability and popularity of content, have changed forever. Search engines are changing their formulas every now and then, Google’s latest major and “quiet” updates are good examples. Facebook giving more findability opportunities to visual content and most liked, shared, or commented on posts. Twitter search putting top results ranking for the most retweeted or favorited tweets, and so on. This shows that the crowds have the power now and this is not something new but it has been overshadowed by the emergence of new communication technologies like Web 2.0, mobile and others..
“It is at the heart of marketing books. Marketers realize this, as marketing basics dictate that the marketing process should start and end at the consumer side. So what has changed why is this big story now!? It’s the way we think, we want Faster, Bigger, and Better way of reach for cash…”
People now put value first and with the too much ads-noisy offline and online space, it is getting harder and harder for organizations to cope up. This takes us to the principles of the marketing game, you want consumers to find your product, give them what they want. Your website is always a good starting point, but is it findable?
How fast is it?
Does it support mobile screens and mobile technology?
Is it easy to navigate through?
Does it have consumers questions answered?
How many other sites are talking about it?

There is a scientific reference for these question, and why they are so important to answer. The search engine optimization (SEO) – a process for marketers to make sure the content they want to publish is visible to people and search engines. It has a systematic process of tweaking some codes in the websites and crafting messages based on consumer researched insights – for your content whether for your website, blog or social channels, it has to be relevant and targeted. People start their shopping journey by searching for things, you are expected to show up in their search results. Are you doing anything about it. The website has to be well designed, has proper layout and updated. Each industry has its own specific list of topics and ideas that people usually discuss, search for and share. If you are in the business of cars, then expect people to search/ ask for prices, warrant ever, service durability, safety, comparisons with competing car brands, etc .you need to make sure that your website covers these ideas in details so you be a good starting point for people in their shopping journey. Why bother?
Because your competition probably is already doing it and they can win the consumers love..
Does it require skills or investments? Well, yes it does but the most important thing is researching and studying about the people that you want to buy your cars for example, what do they like, hate, how much they spend on what and why,, etc then define their interests and their concerns about cars and how do they buy.. From there the ideas and information you gather will help you define their search and information-seeking patterns. This will help you draft the keywords they might use and the questions that your sales and customer service department have from interacting with consumers. Then all such data has to be fulfilled in different forms of content blogging, videos, audio, info graphics, etc just to make sure you are easy to find, but so convincing and valuable to buy from.
Today the challenge is that there are different channels to use for publishing and sharing topics and ideas with people. Your website, social media channels, mobile and your consumers database. The idea is to map the right content for the right people at the right time for the right channel. This way it becomes amazing and your content is remarkable and sticky to share and discuss .
